Annual Chaplaincy Retreat at Belloc: Thurs 25/Fri 26th - Sunday May 28th

belloc

Theme: “Holding Fast - Then and Now” - Speaker: Rev’d Tony Lomas

Join us for the annual Chaplaincy Retreat at Belloc from Thurs 25/Friday 26th May until Sunday 28th May. As in previous years, there will be two booking options allowing you to attend all or part of the retreat as best suits you.

As this year’s retreat will begin on Ascension Day, we will be exploring the Chaplaincy theme of “Hold Fast” through the eyes of Jesus’ disciples as they lived through those first days between Ascension and Pentecost. This was a time of huge change for them, and we might imagine their emotions of sadness, confusion and concern mixed with excitement and expectation as they awaited the promised gift from God. 3 Baptisms in Bordeaux!

It is with great joy that we share the good news of 3 baptisms held in Bordeaux on Sunday January 29th, officiated by Rev'd Dr. David Kirby. We pray, "Heavenly Father, by the power of your Holy Spirit you give to your faithful people new life in the water of baptism. Guide and strengthen us by the same Spirit, that we who are born again may serve you in faith and love, and grow into the full stature of your Son, Jesus Christ, who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit now and for ever. Amen."

growing in christchaplaincy of aquitaine

The Chaplaincy of Aquitaine first came into being in 1825, when a church community was established in Bordeaux. In south-west France it seems that there have always been people seeking to worship God in the English language, and so for some 185 years we have been able, as the Psalmist puts it, to ‘sing the Lordread more’s song in a foreign land’.(Psalm 137:14Read more about the Chaplaincy's growth over the years in Aquitaine.
