Looking back...
We had a lovely time at the end of March when a number of us met at the Salle des Fetes in Le Coux and Sheila Campbell led us in a few ceilidh dances, interspersed with some poetry recitals etc. and a delicious meal prepared by Anne Penfold. The total raised on the evening was 475 €, to be shared between our charities, Resto du Coeur and Mercy Ships.
Our Easter reflections began with Palm Sunday Praise, followed by a Communion service on Maundy Thursday led by our Chaplain. The performance of ‘Stainer’s Crucifixion’ on Good Friday afternoon was well attended and all present found it to be a moving experience, with beautiful solos, dramatic readings and fabulous choral singing. Finally, Easter Sunday Communion was a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus – “He is not here; he has risen …”.
Then, at the end of April, Anne Penfold led her final service with us at Limeuil before she returns to the UK permanently early in May – we sent her off with a lovely hamper of Perigordian goodies and a photo-book of memories. Following the service, we held a bring & share lunch and it was great to have so many friends join us in giving Anne a good send off … but how we will miss her!
