Chaplaincy Celebration - Pentecost Sunday 8th June 2025
Abbaye Sainte Ferme, Gironde (33580)
Join us for our 'Chaplaincy Day', celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Chaplaincy of Aquitaine!
All are welcome to join us for this time for renewal, for our Chaplaincy family to worship, give thanks and praise, pray together and to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Chaplaincy of Aquitaine!
Come and meet with God, and celebrate with friends old and new
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” (1 Corinthians 12:27)
This year’s Chaplaincy Day will be especially meaningful as we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Chaplaincy of Aquitaine!
Set in the heart of the beautiful village of Sainte Ferme in the Gironde (33580), midway between Sauveterre-de-Guyenne and Duras, and just 45km southwest of Bergerac, the Abbey offers a stunning and historic setting for our gathering.
We warmly encourage everyone to join us on this joyous Pentecost Sunday, a day of worship, fellowship, and thanksgiving for two centuries of Anglican Christian witness under the umbrella of the Diocese in Europe, a truly diverse and inclusive diocese that even spans countries like Russia and Ukraine.
Programme for the Celebration Day:
- 10:00 – 10:40, Refreshments in the Refectory (with access to toilet facilities)
- 11:00, Holy Communion and Worship, led by Bishop Robert, with a Chaplaincy Choir and the licensing of our new Chaplain, Rev’d Canon John Bavington
- 12:00, Vin d’honneur and canapés in the Refectory
- 13:00, Buffet Lunch in the Salle des Fêtes (For those attending the lunch, please bring your own couverts).
- 14:00, Free time / Lunch cleared away / Band practice
- 15:00, Afternoon Praise & Prayer, led by Rev’d David Marshall & Rev’d John Bavington
- 16:00, Afternoon Tea
The Abbey and surrounding countryside are truly breathtaking, and we’ll be making full use of this fantastic space. There is ample parking available, and we strongly encourage car sharing or mini-bus use where possible.
While we understand not everyone may be able to attend for the full day, we would love for you to come, even if just for part of it, to show support and share in this memorable moment for our Chaplaincy.
A formal RSVP invitation will follow by email.
Volunteers Needed:
We will also be reaching out to all worship centres in May with requests for help in various areas. Your support will be much appreciated!
“Celebrate His goodness; proclaim His faithfulness to all generations.” (Psalm 89:1)
