Our Weddings

Previously over forty weddings took place in various locations in the Chaplaincy of Aquitaine.

“A very lovely and memorable day” Jess & John

There’s nothing much we can do but praise our whole experience with the Chaplaincy of Aquitaine and our lovely ceremony in Monteton. The help and communication we received from the start was always warm and welcoming and any questions we had were answered with ease, removing any worries we had for the day. You can’t ask for much more of a beautiful setting than the one surrounding Monteton church, a perfect backdrop for a wedding and place we hold very vividly in our memory.

I think everyone gets nervous on their wedding day, which was no exception for us. However our nerves were soon eased by our Reverend Tony as he led us through the wedding proceedings with his calm, collective demeanor and delightful sense of humour. The Chaplaincy organised for us to have the church bells ringing on the day and have some of our favourite music played during the ceremony by their organist, which helped create a very personal experience for us and our guests. All in all a very lovely and memorable day.

“The day was so special” Nicola & Lee

We were married in the Church in Montauriol in October 2018.  Being able to have our wedding service in the beautiful old church made the day so special – so much character, history and it made for a wonderful rural French experience for our guests who came down to Montauriol from all over the world.

“It was a truly joyous occasion” Metrine & Adrien

Rev’d Tony writes: It is always a particular pleasure to marry couples who are members of our local church family. Metrine and Adrien’s special day at Mérignac (Bordeaux) was a truly joyous occasion.

A lovely, personal and joyful service” Ana & Jeremy

Reverend Tony and everybody from the chaplaincy made preparing for our wedding in Savignac-de-Duras a real pleasure. We know how far Rev Tony’s remit stretches throughout the whole of Aquitaine, and we were so happy that he drove all the way to our home to meet us beforehand. It was so helpful to be able to be told exactly what to expect from the ceremony, to be clearly explained what we needed to prepare, and to be given all the information we needed – all in Tony’s calm, warm and often humorous manner! We were in contact often before the day of the wedding, and Rev Tony even had time to meet both sets of our parents at separate times, once in his home.

We will always be grateful for everything he did to support us when we had some complications, and his willingness to spare his time for us. When it came to the day itself, Rev Tony gave a lovely, personal and joyful service. We will forever remember exchanging our vows in a tiny church in the depths of the southern French countryside in a place that means so much to us both.
