2020 Lent Course: "Saying yes to life"

say yes to lifeFor our Lent studies this year, we recommend the book "Saying yes to life" by Dr Ruth Valerio, which is the Archbishop of Canterbury's 2020 Lent choice, which draws on the creation story in Genesis Chapter 1 in relating themes of light, water, land, the seasons, other creatures, humankind, Sabbath rest and resurrection hope to matters of environmental, ethical and social concern.  Voices from across the world are heard throughout and each chapter ends with discussion questions, a prayer and specially commissioned art to aid action and contemplation.

In tandem with this book is the Church of England "Live Lent: Care for God's Creation", with weekly themes and prayers shaped around the Genesis creation themes and explores the urgent need for humans to value and protect the abundance God has created. (Church House Publishing website)
